Arctic Shores Kennels

Arctic Shores' Blizzard of 2005
Arctic Shores Kennels breeds registered, purebred Siberian Husky pups and Giant Alaskan Malamute pups. Our puppies are beautiful and have the best temperaments available. All of our animals are raised and cared for as if they were our own children. We have large, clean, disease free kennels, which our dogs only sleep in at night. During the day they are allowed to run together in a very large area which is kept clean on a regular basis. All of our babies are introduced to children and other animals at a very early age, which makes them very well socialized from birth. We also allow all of our expectant mothers to give birth and raise their pups inside of our home. This allows us the opportunity to bond with each and every pup from birth. And to give the new mom and babies extra special attention. All of our new pups are given their vaccinations on schedule, and dewormed on a regular basis.
Deborah Creammer
Owner/Breeder
Now that you now how my kennel is operated, I would now like to introduce you to myself on a person level, so that everyone will know who I am and how it all began (I get asked this often). I am thirty-four years old, and a mother of three boys, ages five through seventeen. I have always had a fondness and deep love for animals ever since I was a child. My mother would always get so frustrated with me for leading all of the animals in our neighborhood to our home, and of course wanting to keep them all. At times, this included some not -so domesticated animals, but my love for the animals always seemed to win over my mother's approval. I have been the proud owner of many animals throughout my life including many breeds, and mixed breeds. All of which were loved dearly.
I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, up until I was the age of fifteen, at which time I moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my parents, and attended Socastee High School. I worked at Litchfield By The Sea for several years before relocating back home to Virginia to take care of my grandparents, Harry and Elsie Currier, owners of Currier Steel, whom I loved dearly, and whose health was deteriorating rapidly. My grandparents at that time, owned several acres of property located just outside of Lynchburg, VA, which included a vacation home that was very seldom used. I then remodeled the home, and decided to make it my permanent place of residence. My father, Mitch Arrington, retired college professor, (Horry-Georgetown Technical College) decided to buy me three Siberian Huskies; Nikita, Thor and Wolf. I came to know the breed, and loved them all dearly, and decided at that point to become a breeder. Well, I didn't quite know at that time what it took to become a "breeder", though I do know now. Later, I discovered that I was given a great gift from God. I realized that I had all of the qualities that it took to become what was always a dream for me, which was to become a breeder, and work with animals on a regular basis. This was something that had always been in my heart, and all of a sudden it came to be! It was truly a dream come true. Since that time, I began researching Alaskan Malamutes, and purchased my first three Mals, which included Lakota, Sitka, and Talon. I loved them all so, and the breed itself, and decided to breed them also. I have no regrets, as far as I am concerned, the Alaskan Malamute, is the best breed anyone could own by far. I continued to expand my breeding program, always keeping an eye out for the best producers available. I now have approximately fifty breeders, and I am their sole caretaker, and provider.
I have come to discover, just in the last few years since I began breeding, that breeding includes so much more than "putting two dogs together, and letting them do their thing". It takes much time, sacrifice, total dedication, and a tremendous amount of hard work, and a lot of resources. This includes twelve-fourteen, sometimes sixteen hour days, no vacations, and absolutely no time off. I consider this to be much sacrifice for both myself, and my children, as my children all realize that my animals are at the top of my priority list along side of them. My animals come before everything else, my always realizing that they cannot "fend" for themselves, and that they rely on "me" solely to give them food, water, and attention for their survival. These qualities are not found in everyone. Only persons whom deeply care for animals carry these qualities, and not many people are willing to turn their lives over to their animals, and offer this much sacrifice. Although my duties includes sacrifice, dedication, and money that I sometimes do not have, I would not give it up for anything in the world, as I know that this was "meant to be", and it is extremely rewarding for me, which outweighs the drawbacks that being a breeder involves. I enjoy working with my customers, and am deeply rewarded when observing a customer pick up a puppy or kitten to bring to their home, as most people consider their pets as their children, and feel that they are "adopting" a new "family member". I realize that this is a very special experience for each of you, and I truly enjoy being a part of this experience!
